One of the many perks of my job is being able to talk to U.S. farmers on a regular basis.

It’s exciting to talk to farmers about future technology coming down the pipeline to help them reach even higher yields, what farming practicing they have in place to make them as productive as possible, what it’s like farming with their family, etc. And some topics aren’t as exciting to discuss with farmers, but yet satisfying to hear their responses.… Full Article »

What Do Monsanto and Food, Inc. Have in Common? Intellectual Property

The movie Food, Inc. is premiering this week across the United States. The movie, according to its promotional Web site, “lifts the veil on our nation’s food industry, exposing the highly mechanized underbelly that’s been hidden from the American consumer with the consent of our government’s regulatory agencies, USDA and FDA. Our nation’s food supply is now controlled by a handful of corporations that often put profit ahead of consumer health, the livelihood of the American farmer, the safety of workers and our own environment.”

Food, Inc.: Did Monsanto decline to participate?

Recently, I sat down to watch Food Inc., a film by director Robert Kenner and marketing firm Participant Media.

I was anxious to see the film because it included my company, Monsanto. But, I was also very interested because I took the initial call from one of the film’s L.A.-based producers, Elise Pearlstein, asking my company to be a participant a number of months ago.
