It’s a cool thing to be part of Monsanto’s blogging team. And it’s because I’m one of 24 million people in the United States whose job depends upon farmers.

I’m the team lead for what we call Online Strategy & Communications, one of the team in Corporate Marketing & Communications. I Am Monsanto

There are a lot of things that describe me. PhD scientist, husband, father, biophysicist, biochemist, blogger, history buff, platform lead, poet, Monsanto employee and political progressive. The last two things on that list are a source of great conflict, at least for me recently.

Blogs – Hardly Shoddy Journalism

The other day I was in a meeting with two colleagues of mine, talking about blogs. One of them was in Public Affairs, like me. The other was from a different department. My colleague from the other department could not understand why anyone would read a blog and take any of the information as truth. He called blog writing “[shoddy] journalism” and “didn’t know anyone that read blogs”. As someone that works in social media for a living, this got me a bit amped.
